MOCA Health provides patients with safe and convenient access to medical cannabis treatment through a streamlined telehealth and dispensing system. Independent practitioners, specially trained in cannabis science, patient-specific dosing, and TGA compliance, deliver consultations via Halaxy, a secure healthcare platform that manages bookings, payments, and intake forms. Patients can book online 24/7, with practitioners reviewing medical history in advance to ensure personalised care.
During the first consultation, patients complete an intake form and connect by phone for a 15-minute session. If appropriate, the doctor initiates a prescription and lodges a TGA Special Access Scheme application, with approvals usually granted within 24–48 hours. Prescriptions are valid for 6 months (THC) or 12 months (CBD), with follow-up consultations required for renewals or treatment adjustments.
Once approved, patients gain access to MOCA’s secure portal to review prescriptions, purchase medications, manage repeats, and download resources, ensuring continuity from consultation to treatment.
Clinical Side – Consultations & Prescriptions
MOCA Health works with highly qualified practitioners who are specially trained in prescribing medical cannabis. These practitioners are independent medical professionals who contract with MOCA Health to provide consultations. Before seeing patients, each practitioner undergoes MOCA’s internal training program, which covers:
The latest research and protocols in medical cannabis use.
Dosing and titration strategies tailored to patient needs.
Regulatory requirements, including TGA application processes.
Safe prescribing practices and patient care guidelines.
Patients connect with these practitioners through MOCA’s telehealth system, powered by Halaxy. Halaxy is a secure, professional healthcare platform designed to manage bookings, intake forms, and payments in one place. This system ensures that:
Patient data is handled securely and in compliance with medical privacy regulations.
Consultations are streamlined — patients can book online anytime, from anywhere in Australia.
Practitioners have direct access to a patient’s submitted medical history before the consultation, allowing them to prepare thoroughly.
This setup makes MOCA Health both accessible (patients don’t need to travel) and comprehensive (clinicians are fully informed before the call).
First Appointment
Booking an appointment:
Patients visit MOCA Health’s booking website at booking.mocahealth.com.au.
Choose a practitioner, then select an available date and time.
Confirm the booking and pay for the consultation.
Intake Process:
Complete the intake form with:
Detailed medical history and current ailments.
Reason for booking.
Medicare card details.
Consultation:
At the scheduled appointment time, the practitioner will call the patient from a private number. If the call is not answered, a second attempt will be made from a one-way number to ensure the consultation can proceed.
Once connected, the patient has a 15-minute phone consultation with the practitioner.
The practitioner reviews the patient’s medical history and discusses treatment options.
If appropriate, a prescription for medical cannabis is initiated.
After the Consultation - TGA Registration & Approval:
Following the consultation, the practitioner submits an application to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) under the Special Access Scheme (SAS).
The patient’s details and prescription are registered with the TGA for official approval.
Approval timeframe: typically 24–48 hours.
Once approved, the prescription is released for dispensing.
Follow-Up Consultations
Follow up appointments are necessary when the patient wishes to make changes to their treatment plan, or their script has expired. All THC scripts have an expiration date of 6 months. Whereas CBD scripts have an expiration of 12 months.
Patients return to the booking site to schedule another session.
The practitioner connects with the patient via a phone call at their allotted appointment time. Follow-ups are also 15-minute Telehealth calls.
Purpose: review how the medication is working, adjust treatment plans, and renew or change prescriptions.
After the TGA approval and prescription confirmation, patients transition from the clinical process to the dispensing process via MOCA’s patient portal.
First Dispensing
